Last days of the season on No1 very cold, 5:20pm Male Tench 4-6. 2:30am, frost on the bivvie, very very cold. funny bite, dull fight, welcome Carp 14-2, Roll on next season!
A great night out down at Rowley with Les Skidmore, Ian Kempster, and Dave Prasad. My first fish went 18lb fish a regular mirror that usually goes 17lb. The second fish was a proper beast and really put up a good fight in the dark with none of my so called fellow anglers waking up until it was the weigh in. At 24lb 14oz it was a new personal best for me and topped off a great night out. This really was the icing on the cake. This is what club fishing is all about for me, ood company, good food, great venue and a couple of carp chucked in for good measure. Roll on the next outing. I get the impression these fish are already coming up in weight following the Bream relocation so here's to a great future for Rowley.
Vince, Its no secret that I entered this Pike match unenthusiastically as I have never had the desire to catch one but if someone takes the time to organise it (Well done Hambo) then I will try and take part. Little did I know I would win it. With the only fish caught of the match at 6lb 6oz I took the money!! What a great morning, and loads of people popped down to see how we were getting on. Hopefully we will get a better turn out next time. We have pencilled in another match on the 28th November and this time at Rowley. Spread the word, I will 'big it up' in the newsletter. Regards Dave
Yet another common carp of nearly 14lb managed to grace my net during the early hours of the morning. A very welcomed fish as I had lost one just after eleven. Early October and two runs in one night shows the fishing on pit one is still good.
Vince, What a night. A hat trick. 16lb 8oz, 21lb 2oz and 21lb 11oz Mirror Carp. Gary Leisten and Glyn Lewis were with me and Gary recognised the 2nd fish by a massive 'tumor' on its side. I've not had a night so busy before. Weather was poxy but the fishing more than made up for it. I also had a pike on a boilie bottom bait which is becoming a bit of a habit for me at Rowley. Regards
Short PM session for fun whilst having a rest from targeting carp. Session produced 3 large Bream (separate reports filed on each), numerous Roach up to 3/4 lb and 2 lost fish, probably carp too strong for the lighter open end feeder tackle used. All fish fell for flavoured sweetcorn fished direct on the hook (4 grains).
Vince, I took this photo for my mate Glyn Lewis with his first H.A.S. carp of the season. Not a bad way to start, 20lb Mirror from Rowley. A small row of scales on its dorsal line was all it had. Great scrap and just as it was getting dark. About 9pm. No carp for me this time but I had a Bream and another Pike on boilies!! Lake is looking good and the weather was kind to us. Regards
Vince, Me & Mick Grice have done a couple of afternoon/evening sessions on Rowley in the last 2 weeks, best fish was a very hard fighting and lively 17lb Mirror taken by Mick in the middle of a blazing hot afternoon. I would urge all members, especially those fishing the farm bank (shallow side) to keep a close watch on the swans. They are on your baits quicker than you would think, both Mick and I had close shaves with them picking up baits, but another member was not so lucky, fortunately the swan managed to dislodge the hook and appeared to be OK. Cheers.
I had two nights fishing so done a quick night on friday down pit one before hitting pit two. Done the usual, finished late friday so grabbed a quick bite to eat and headed down number one. Arrived about 7:30 and had the WHOLE LAKE to myself. Found a few fish in the weed so set up for the night . Around 4 in the morning lost a fish after a long fight, didn't recast went back to bed with hump. Got up a couple of hours later, tied on a new rig cast out and ten minutes later it's away. 13lb 4oz common graced the net. packed up about 12 and headed down number two, fished the night with Les and Jamie, good laugh but no fish.
Vince, This one will upset the regulars at Pit 2!! On only my second night this season I got this Carp. Easy water. Wasn't sure whether to post it up or not but thought sod it, I caught it. 20lb exactly. Good fight and a pristine fish. I might even go back and try to get another. In fairness to the lads, Ginger, Les and a scotsman called Ron, they were really excited for me. They all came round to do the photo's and much back slapping took place!! Andy Kempster, my so-called fishing partner that night, slept through the whole of the catch and only woke up when his brother abused him. Regards Dave.
Vince, After an uneventful night for myself on Harrow Pit 2, I stopped in at Pit 1 on my way home for a couple of hours. After a quick look around I found several fish close in. My bait was only in the water ten minutes before a hard fighting Common ripped line of my reel, smack bang in the middle of a downpour.
Hi Vince, hope all is well, here are a couple of shots of the Bream that we had at the start of the season. In all we had at least 7 double figure fish on the bank between us and I lost one carp at the net after a hectic battle to say the least... Kind regards.
Vince, fishing fourth swim (just before ramp) on the railway bank up from the disabled swim car park. Fish (Bream 10-10) was caught on 8mm trout pellet. Bait was fished over a bed of groundbait of crumb, hemp, maize and trout pellets. Lots of line bites before the first bite 02:30 which resulted in the fish.
Vince, fishing first swim (Jetty) on the railway bank up from the disabled swim car park. Fish (Bream 9-12) was caught on strawberry boilie which were about 3 years old and very hard and dry. Bait was fished over a bed of groundbait of crumb, hemp, maize and trout pellets. Lots of line bites before the first bite 04:30 which resulted in the fish. Some line bites after before it went quiet at 06:00
Vince, Surname: Good days sport on the float and feeder, twelve Bream all 3 - 4 lb.One tench around 3 lb. Six Rudd and three Roach all around 6 oz. One small Perch. Bumped off 2 Carp on the float. Fished 4.30 am to 1.00 pm. Breadflake and worm, feeding with maggots, hemp and pellets. Good to see better quality Rudd and Roach.
Vince, slow start, few smalls, and a baby Tench of 4oz. Good to see small tench being caught, at least they appear to be breeding .
Hi Vince, Well what a poor start for me, tried at Rowley for a day and a night, nothing but a pesky jack. I then moved onto No1 where I spent an hour watching the lake and decided to fish the point (where a lot of hard work has been put into making it more comfortable, thanks lads). There were loads of Carp cruising in the weeded area, unfortunatley they were just not intrested in anything I had to offer (and I mean everything). I had a couple of hours playing with the Rudd but nothing of any size, so after 2days and nights at No1 I BLANKED, (ouch). This is becoming a habit with me and I am taking it personally, I know there is tons of weed which is rich in natural food, but I thought they might fancy a take away now and then, Oh well till the next time, Regards, Gary.
Vince, an update on No2. The bream are playing ball at the moment - 4 double figures already including a 12-7 and a 12-12. Dews farm and the Railway Bannk are Ramma with them.
