Data Protection Policy

This is a statement of the Data Protection policy adopted by Harrow Angling Society.

The Harrow Angling Society (HAS) needs to collect and use certain types of information about people with whom it deals in order to operate. These include current, past and prospective members, suppliers and others with whom it communicates. This personal information must be dealt with properly however it is collected, recorded and used - whether on paper, in a computer, or recorded on other material - and there are safeguards to ensure this in the Data Protection Act 1998.

We regard the lawful and correct treatment of personal information by HAS as very important to successful operations, and to maintaining confidence between our members and ourselves. We ensure that our organization treats personal information lawfully and correctly.

To this end the Officers, Committee and Bailiffs of the Society fully endorse and adhere to the Principles of Data Protection. Personal information processed by HAS will be used solely for the purpose of running the Society as determined by the Society Rules.

The information held by the Society is collated from membership forms. If any member wishes to gain access to their specific information they should apply to the Secretary, stating their membership number and details of their request. This information will be supplied to the individual within 40 days. There may be a charge levied, which will be determined from time to time by the Committee.
